Clean Install or Restore - bigmasterdrago - 2024-09-19 I'm changing my OS on my old W7Pro64 desktop and just wanted to ask if I should download a new installation (current SkyTools4Setup.exe dated 9/28/2021). Or should I do a restore to the new OS? The only thing I've got that I would need to re-enter are a couple of locations. Kenneth Drake RE: Clean Install or Restore - theskyhound - 2024-09-19 I recommend saving a backup to a USB drive. Open About SkyTools and write down your license, as this can change as you apply upgrades. After the new OS is installed, re-install from the download link, enter your license, and restore the backup. RE: Clean Install or Restore - bigmasterdrago - 2024-09-19 Thanks Head Dude at Skyhound. I would not have thought of doing it that way. Saves me some trouble and time. I recommend downloading the latest version of SkyTools 4 and installing it fresh on your new OS. This will give you the cleanest and most stable setup. Just finished backing everything up to my USB and grabbed my license info from SkyTools — appreciate the clear steps, Greg. Everything went smooth with the reinstall and restore. Glad I asked first instead of winging it. |
