smart project builder - odd results

Thanks again, I am getting what the capability is and isn't, albeit slowly. I've played around a bit more looking at the exposure tables. Maybe the AI version will do what I want Smile
On the color composite, when I select the dumbell and pick 10 total hours, I get L, Ha, OIII, and SII. I've never shot L along with narrowband and not sure that I've ever heard of anyone doing it. So those options seem odd, but it does give me some options without L.
Another thing I don't expect is that an image that uses some of the time for L and SII and 1/2 the time for Ha and OIII is better than an image that focuses all of the time on Ha and OIII. Almost every good image of the dumbell is done with HOO. In this case the image with 1/2 the time in Ha and OIII (150m each), adding equal amounts of L and SII (also 150m) has a SNR of 18, when the image with all of the 10 hours split between soley between Ha and OIII only has an SNR of 7. I'm not sure I would agree with this. And what is the L for when it's narrow band?

Is there a way to force a filter mix?

Also, the smart project builder is not using my R & B filters? I tried to do something like a star cluster, and the only filters are L and G.

I tried some galaxies also, like the Sombrero and Whale galaxy, and they would only give me L and G results in greyscale, and would not give color composite and only gives a message that says "No results, target may be to bright or is" and cuts off there.

Hello,

You probably need to change the name or abbreviations for your R and B filters. There are photometric B and R filters that, by convention, are called B and R. In order to help it understand that they are broadband Red and Blue filters, edit the names to be Red and Blue.

I think you will find it works better after you fix this.

I first changed the name which didn't fix it and then changed the abbr and that did allow blue and red to be used.

I'll keep chugging away at learning the tool
