Here's a bright, fast moving MP that would be visible on Dec 19-20 except for interference from the bright moon.
It's predicted to reach 16.2 mag between 1400 EST on Dec 19 to 1400 EST on Dec 20 in Cancer. The path is shown here:

It will pass close to comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko & M44.

That is a fast one, I don't think I could keep up with it.
I tried looking up Santa's sleigh, but skytools wasn't interested Smile

And where would you get the osculating elements for Santa's Sleigh? The MPC doesn't have a listing Big Grin .

I was wrong! Here it is: [attachment=2155]

Here's the predicted path : [attachment=2156]

A bit on the faint side though.

Good hunting,

That's a good find! Many years ago, I found a prediction of a very bright Iridium flare on Christmas Eve. When I took the grand-kids out to watch Santa pass over, somehow the prediction at Heavens Above was in error. A no-show from Santa.

You might check with the passes for the ISS in your neck of the woods. I have one from Hubble but not bright enough for a show.

Love your work Phil Smile

Thats a great idea for the flare BMG. I have 3 grandkids that would have worked really well on.
Even if Santa did fly over, our weather is so crappy lately, we would not see him anyway...
