How to get alignment stars for syscan
#1
into a catalog without having to type them into something. I have a list but it is only the names not the other information. My HC is a Syscan 4 from SW/ORION. I can of course import just the names but that would not do me much good. I know that Visual 4 is very close and this is something I need to get done, so if I have to type them I need to get started.

Thank you for any and all suggestions.

You can use the "Read Objects from file" feature, assuming you have a file with a list of stars in it. It just needs to read and recognize the star designations. Nightly Planner --> Observing List menu --> Read Object from file. See the help on the dialog for details.

Hello, I haven't check every star in it but the Skyscan (firmware 3.25) List should be the same. You can download/Import it from Skyhound Web Site within Skytools 3.

Data Manager => Import Shared Data [Skyhound Web site] => Browse Location: Miscellaneous Observing Lists => Get Listing

Unless I miss understood you.

Hope this helps.

Greg and Ron:

Thank you for the advice. I was able to quick develop my own list using the auto lists and just going to the various constellations and setting the star magnitude <3.5. The current list in 4 seems to be about 20 or so stars bigger. But I also downloaded the 3.5 stars.

Again thanks for the quick response as I finally got a JMI Wheel Bar and am setting up my Mount in AZ with both scopes.
