Thanks for the prompt replies. After more surfing for information on the Bernes objects, I think you are correct that they may just be a list in a research paper. I have attached a paperwritten by C. Bernes. The coordinates for object 48 in the list correspond to the coordinates in Sky Tools 4 for Bernes 48. The problem is solved. There are numerous Bernes objests in Sky Tools. I am compiling a list of interesting targets suitable for my equipment and locations. To be included in my list, I must find some images. Somehow, I latched onto about a dozen Bernes nebulae.
I retract my suggestion about lists or links of astronomical catalogues. There are way too many.
