Speech Question - Telescopist - 2022-06-04 Is there a way to turn of the speech function when slewing the telescope to an object? I don't really care to hear the announcements. The visual information, watching the crosshairs migrate to the target are plenty enough. TIA. Dick RE: Speech Question - PMSchu - 2022-06-04 Hi Dick, Have you tried unchecking the Option to 'Speak Telescope Status' near the bottom of the Telescope Control options on the Real Time tab? I don't normally use the Real Time function, but that might do what you're after. This choice didn't appear in the Help when I clicked the Help option at the very bottom of the dialog though. It must be a new addition. Here's what the drop down looks like: [attachment=2396] Hope this helps, Phil S. RE: Speech Question - Telescopist - 2022-06-05 Thanks Phil, I've been using Real Time Observing since 2009 and somehow missed this box! I think the command could be a little clearer. Maybe the inclusion of an "On" & "Off" options. In any event, I unchecked it. Now I'm not getting crosstalk with SkyView. SkyView is a tool in SiTech which is useful for performing the first offset init as well as further refining the Go-To accuracy of the telescope by the inclusion of additional PointEP calibration points. Although SkyView has a hefty database it is not a true planetarium program. Nor was it ever intended to be one. I rely on SkyTools for my planning my observing sessions and of course, drawing maps of an area-target. RE: Speech Question - PMSchu - 2022-06-05 Hi Dick, Generally in SkyTools, when a menu has an option with a check next to it, that option is active (ON). If you click it again to uncheck it, it will be inactive (OFF). I think that's standard for most Windows programs I'm familiar with. YMMV. Glad this cleared up your issue. Phil S. If you have more questions, this is the place to ask them. The Help is pretty good, but sometimes folks need a bit more info to get through an issue. Phil S. |
