Gegenschein - bigmasterdrago - 2021-12-17 Like the planets, the large (8°x10°), faint, squashed football shaped glow resides at the anti-solar position along the ecliptic. It seems, for me, easiest to view when in Pisces during mid October. I was wondering if there is a way to illustrate/simulate its position in ST4v? Similar to the seasonal map down the page at https://skyandtelescope.org/observing/take-the-gegenschein-challenge101420151410/ RE: Gegenschein - theskyhound - 2021-12-17 Hello, I haven't gotten around to adding either the Gegenschein or the Zodiacal Light to the sky brightness model yet. But I do plan to when I upgrade the sky model across the board one day. RE: Gegenschein - bigmasterdrago - 2021-12-17 Thank you. I recall a few times from a dark site seeing in the west the standing V-shaped configuration of the Zodiacal light and Milky Way. The color difference, one pale blue, one reddish was unmistakable. |
